Both Porsche Juniors Alessandro Ghiretti and Theo Oeverhaus on the podium

Another shift at the top of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland standings: Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti has reclaimed the overall lead with his third victory of the season. Driving for Schumacher CLRT, the Frenchman won round ten of the season ahead of Israel’s Ariel Levi (Team GP Elite) and Germany’s Alexander Tauscher (Target).

Previous series leader Robert de Haan picked up a penalty due to incidents in Saturday’s race and was relegated from the front to the ninth row of the grid. After 19 laps in the Proton Huber Competition Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, the Dutchman crossed the line in eleventh place, dropping two points behind Alessandro Ghiretti in the drivers’ standings.

‟I dedicate this win to my mechanics – they worked for six hours last night to get my 911 back into perfect condition after the damage it sustained in Saturday’s race,” praised Porsche Junior Ghiretti. ‟It feels great to be back at the top of the standings.”

The driver from southern France converted pole position into an unchallenged lights-to-flag victory, remaining unfazed even by a 15-minute interruption to repair a guard rail. ‟I didn’t stand a chance against Alessandro today,” admitted Ariel Levi, who finished second, just over a second behind. Although the Israeli is still chasing his first win of the season, his third podium finish of the year has boosted him to third place in the championship standings.

Securing second on Saturday and third on Sunday, Porsche Junior Theo Oeverhaus put an end to a string of difficult races. ‟A few problems cropped up during testing on Thursday, so I really couldn’t have expected two podium finishes. I’m very happy with the points, but my goal for the next race weekend is to take third place overall,” said the German, who now sits just one point behind Ariel Levi in the drivers’ standings.

Saturday’s race winner, Alexander Tauscher snatched fourth place in the Porsche fielded by the Italian Target team. Frenchman Marvin Klein (Proton Huber Competition) crossed the line just behind the Bavarian, while Dutchman Kas Haverkort (Team GP Elite) secured sixth, making him the highest-placed driver from the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland Talent Pool.

The top-placed rookie, Joseph Warhurst, finished ninth. ‟That was my most intense race this season,” said the 20-year-old Briton from Proton Huber Competition. ‟Things didn’t go well at all in the early stages. During the race break, I refocused and gave it my all after the restart. My second Rookie victory is a great reward.” With second place, his Dutch teammate Sacha Norden maintained his lead in the standings among the Carrera Cup newcomers.

Michael Schrey heads home to Osnabrück from the Nürburgring with a perfect points haul in the ProAm classification, claiming Sunday’s class victory in Bonk Motorsport’s Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Although he finished second on Saturday, race winner Alex Hardt is not counted in the points standings as a guest driver. ‟A perfect weekend, where I was able to further extend my lead in the ProAm classification,” said a satisfied Schrey. Joining him on the ProAm podium were Sören Spreng (GP Elite) in second place and Michael Essmann (Team75 Bernhard) in third.

‟Even without the unpredictable weather that so often plays a part at the Nürburgring, our drivers treated the fans to two spectacular and action-packed races. The lead changed hands twice over the weekend, and the top group remains closely bunched. The title fight among the Rookies is also wide open again. I’m confident the second half of the season will be just as exciting,” commented Thorsten Rückert, Project Manager Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland.

Next round in just two weeks

The break until the sixth round of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland will be brief: the one-make cup returns to the Sachsenring the weekend after next (22-24 August 2025) for the eleventh and twelfth races of the season.
